Independent Moving Pictures Co. of America (IMP): Compañía productora fundada en 1909 por Carl Laemmle, antiguo exhibidor de Chicago. Instalada en New York, el primer filme estrenado por el estudio fue el corto HIAWATHA (1909). Al año siguiente IMP se trasladó a Los Angeles, donde se convirtió en uno de los estudios pioneros de Hollywood. Oficialmente fusionada con otras compañías para formar Universal (bajo la dirección de Laemmle), IMP siguió activa como subsidiaria hasta 1917. |
